BLESSING OF INSIGNIA

Bishop: Lets us Pray:

Our Lord and God, by your word you made all things. Through the same words you sanctify and make them symbols of your presence and love for us, your people.

Pour out your blessings on these insignia of the new responsibility you have given our brothers and sisters as knights of your Church.

May our brothers and sisters who will wear them in gratitude to you and in love for your people, through your grace, continue to dedicate themselves totally to you in the service of their brothers and sisters in your Church and in the world.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.

Resp: Amen.

PROFESSION OF FAITH (CRESDO)

Prayer of the faithful

Celebrant: Brothers and Sisters, God is the giver of all good gifts; let us call upon him faith and thanksgiving.

  1. For the church: that God may continue to give her leaders after the mind of Christ who is the way, the truth and the life, we pray to the Lord.
  2. For our country Nigeria: as we prepare for the hand over to the newly elected leaders, that God may bless us with wise and good leaders, who will govern us with fear of God and concern for the common good, we pray to the Lord
  3. For our brothers and sisters whom we honour today: that their true reward may be in the kingdom of God, we pray to the Lord
  4. For those who use their gifts for the good of others: that they may acknowledge God as their source, we pray to the Lord
  5. For the less-privileged and those in distress: that we respond to their need by sharing what God has given us, we pray to the Lord
  6. For the faithful departed: that God may receive them into His heavenly kingdom, we pray to the Lord

Celebrant:

Lord, as we bring these prayers before you, bless us with your heavenly gifts, and grant us the grace to do your will. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
